2 How we use it
Delivering real-time flight data by passing your search query to our flight data provider
Sending push notifications for flight events (delays, gate changes, boarding) via your FCM token
Diagnosing technical issues and improving app reliability
Complying with legal obligations
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
3 Third-party services
The app integrates the following third-party services. Each processes data under its own privacy policy, linked below.
Service
Purpose & data shared
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC)
Delivers push notifications to your device. Google processes your FCM token and device metadata. Privacy policy ↗
AeroDataBox (via RapidAPI)
Provides real-time and historical flight data. Your search queries (flight number and date) are transmitted to their API. No personal information is included. Privacy policy ↗
WeatherAPI.com
Provides airport weather conditions. Only airport IATA codes are sent — no personal data. Privacy policy ↗
Railway (backend hosting)
Hosts our API server and database in the United States. Privacy policy ↗
We do not sell, rent, or trade any data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
4 Data storage & security
Our API server and database are hosted on Railway infrastructure located in the United States. If you are located outside the US, flight search queries are transmitted to and processed in the US.
Security measures in place:
All API communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
Database access is restricted to application services via private networking
No personal data such as names or passwords is stored at this time
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable measures to protect data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5 Data retention
Because we do not currently store personal information, standard account-level retention policies do not apply. Specifically:
Flight search queries are not stored — they are passed directly to AeroDataBox and discarded
FCM tokens are stored only as long as needed to deliver notifications and are refreshed automatically by the Firebase SDK
Flight data cached on our server is retained for up to 5 minutes to reduce unnecessary API calls, then discarded
Server logs (request metadata, no personal data) are retained for 30 days for debugging purposes
6 Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
AccessRequest a copy of any data we hold about you
ErasureRequest deletion of any stored data associated with your device
ObjectionObject to certain processing activities
Withdraw consentDisable notifications at any time via your device settings
To exercise any right, contact us at the address in Section 9. We will respond within 30 days.
7 Children's privacy
FlightTracker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will promptly address it.
8 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves — for example, when user accounts and flight tracking features are introduced. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via an in-app message.
Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
